A while ago I spotted a rather unusual design for a bike stand near our apartment… These two very cool giant ants are provided outside one of the municipality’s old buildings in Kallio. I especially like that they’ve been painted in different styles!
It was interesting to read that the building – named Ensi linja Ykkönen (“First lane #1”) – was built in 1898 and was originally used as a school for blind children. Now, however, it is used by the city of Helsinki (handling city personnel administration) with conference facilities, halls and saunas available for rent.
We previously blogged about another bike stand in the neighbourhood – maybe we can find some other clever designs for bike racks around the city this summer now that we’re biking around again!
