This past weekend Finland received a lot of snow – apparently Helsinki received much less than the central and northern parts of the country (only 10 cm; according to YLE), but it was still enough to cause troubles for road traffic, trails, ferries and even planes (again, according to YLE).

"I'm sure I left my car somewhere here..."

We were glad to not have to travel anywhere on Sunday – cars were even struggling to drive up our street. At one stage I though that the wind had picked up, but it was just the sound of tires spinning outside as multiple cars slowly crawled up our road. Helsinki’s snow-clearing teams deserve a lot of credit though – by Monday morning the road and most of the food paths had been cleared.

The roads were quickly cleared by the municipality... but clearing your parking space is your own job
